Overview

Mundi is a financial and logistics platform for SMBs involved in international trade.

The Book & Quote initiative set out to create a digital tool that streamlines how freight forwarders manage booking and quoting for their clients, bringing functionality comparable to paid competitors like CargoVista but at no cost, leveraging Mundi's existing customer base.

Challenge

Freight forwarders relied on slow, friction-heavy booking and quoting processes, with no affordable digital alternative available to them.

02
Solution

Mapped the end-to-end booking process, identified friction points through research and collaboration with freight forwarders, and produced low-fidelity sketches and high-fidelity screens ready for handoff.

03
Result

Delivered a complete design package, from initial drafts to high-fidelity screens, that enabled a smooth transition to the next designer without losing context or momentum.

Goal

Understand the freight forwarder's booking and quoting process well enough to identify friction points, define a product direction, and produce a complete design proposal within a 4-week sprint.

Process

The team started by mapping the existing booking process through low-fidelity sketches to surface friction before any solutions were explored.

From there, I collaborated directly with freight forwarders to understand how they managed bookings and quotes in practice, covering transport types, rate structures, shipping timelines, regulations, and cost factors such as cargo type and location.

This research informed an information architecture for the tool, structured around three core moments: a dashboard for agents to track incoming client requests, a quotation search flow for finding and comparing supplier options, and a quote creation step where agents could build and send quotes directly from the platform.

Solution

The sprint moved from low-fidelity sketches used to validate the approach and build early prototypes for potential client presentations, through to high-fidelity screens covering the three core flows.

The Figma file was structured and documented throughout to ensure a clean transition to the next designer.

Impact

While the project was transferred to another designer before going into development, the deliverable was a complete design package, from initial drafts to high-fidelity screens, that allowed Diana Iturriza and Liz Guzmán to onboard quickly and continue the work without losing the intent or context behind the decisions.

Reflection

Handing off a project mid-process is one of the more underrated design skills, and this was a good reminder of that. I'm grateful to Diana and Liz for the care they brought to continuing the work. Seeing someone pick up your screens and run with them is genuinely satisfying.
